Our Challenge Partners are investing in student ideas and empowering young people to help them solve real problems their companies — and our world — are facing. This is one AWESOME opportunity... don't let it slip by!

On October 30, 96 students from around Missouri came together for an innovation day to tackle challenges around increasing access to or participation in USDA meal programs. Teams worked with mentors including representatives from No Kid Hungry Missouri and Midwest Dairy to develop solutions through rapid prototyping and design thinking exercises. They pitched their ideas to a panel of judges at the end of the day - with the chance to walk away with a $1,000 grant to bring their big idea to life.

Check out this photo gallery of the winners, who each received $1000 from No Kid Hungry MO to bring their big ideas to life this school year!

Hannah, a junior from Middletown, PA, and an FCCLA member who received a $1000 grant from AdVenture Capital as part of last semester’s “FCCLA Online Challenge,” shared this update with us as she works on her Project this semester – check out this photo of her presenting to her peers to help design and implement her Project!

Hannah’s Project, “Athletes Take New Approach at Nutrition,” is a program focused on creating and sharing nutritional monthly meal plans with busy teenagers based on foods readily available to them. In her original Adventure Capital Project Design, idea, Hannah wrote, “The problem that my collaborative partner and I would like to solve is getting teens to make healthy food choices. Many teenagers do not make healthy food choices because the food that supports their nutritional needs, are not appealing to them. People who are the most impacted are the people who are not fully educated on what nutrients their body needs. Many people also do not understand where they can access healthy food that they would enjoy.”

So far, Hannah has met with her team participating in the project and discussed nutritional and physical activity goals. They’ve designed a month-long nutritional plan and the next step is to order equipment/blenders to help make nutritious smoothies to help everyone get fueled up and ready to go each day. Hannah also shared that part of the challenge is understanding funding guidelines and requirements, but she recommends to AdCap entrepreneurs to read materials several times and ask questions if needed!

Thanks for sharing this photo and update, Hannah! We’re looking forward to hearing more from you and your FCCLA chapter!
