About the SAP Bill McDermott Scholarship

As a passionate believer in engaging up-and-coming leaders and entrepreneurs, SAP’s CEO Bill McDermott has helped to shape SAP’s commitment to equipping the world’s youth with the skills they need to tackle society’s challenges and thrive in the digital economy. In his honor, The Bill McDermott Scholarship recognizes youth social entrepreneurs who have demonstrated an immense work ethic, bravery and determination in achieving their goals and creating their own journey towards success.


Application Guidelines

Tell us about a time you overcame a challenge or solved a problem by answering the following short answers and submitting a visual that helps tell your story.

Describe your goals for after high school. What do you want to achieve?

Explain and describe a time in your life when you overcame a challenge or solved a problem.

How will what you learned from this challenge help you achieve your future dreams?

Describe how participating in AdCap or Fuel Up to Play 60 has impacted you and how you have helped impact others.

Answers to the questions above are limited to 150 words per answer. The type of visual is up to you – be creative!


  1. Review eligibility requirements and application questions.
  2. Create a drawing, photo, video (no longer than 60 seconds), slideshow, logo, or other sort of visual that helps tell your story.
  3. Then, click here to complete and submit your application with your visual by NOVEMBER 15, 2018.


To be eligible to apply for this scholarship in 2018, students must be a junior or senior in school year 2018-2019 and meet at least one of the following specifications:

Received an AdVenture Capital grant and implemented a Project


Attended a national Fuel Up to Play 60 Summit


Achieved Student Ambassador Status on in 2017-2018 or 2018-2019
