Last week, five AdCap entrepreneurs from Boston, Dallas and Phoenix participated in the SAP Teen Innovator Experience in New York City. These students and young entrepreneurs won grant funding and support for their AdCap Projects during last November’s SAP Social Innovation Series, and also received a trip to NYC to meet with SAP execs and Daymond John of TV’s “Shark Tank.”
Despite tricky weather, Arianna and Cassandra (Boston), Jacob and Jade (Phoenix) and Jewell (Dallas) made it safely to New York City on Tuesday. The real fun kicked off bright and early on Wednesday morning when the students and the AdVenture Capital team headed to SAP’s new state-of-the-art office at Hudson Yards on the west side of Manhattan.
Our Teen Innovators learned more about SAP and received a tour of the SAP Next Gen Lab, where software and cool gadgets helped the students understand how the data SAP manages and optimizes translates into products and services for the consumer. During the tour President of SAP North America, DJ Paoni, stopped by to congratulate the students on their hard work and creativity.
After some pitch practice with SAP executives on sharing their ideas and stories, everyone departed the office amidst the blizzard and headed to The Shark Group to meet with Daymond John and his team.
At The Shark Group, the Teen Innovators met with inspiring and passionate members of The Shark Group to learn about all aspects of business – from marketing to social media! They also had the chance to meet with Daymond John, share their Project pitches with him, and receive copies of his book, Rise and Grind.
On the third day, students dug into their Project plans at the GENYOUth office, as they know the real work of implementing their Projects is still ahead of them!
Some big takeaways from the experience for our brave entrepreneurs? Always be YOU, because that’s what people will remember you for. Don’t be afraid to stand out from the crowd and make your voice heard.
We look forward to sharing continued updates on the progress of the Teen Innovators as they implement their projects. Check back here for more updates, and you can also read and share the national press release here.
